Biography
Bahar Heidarzade was born in Tehran in 1981, a few years after the Revolution that forced the Iranian people's transition from monarchy to the Shiite Islamic Republic.Of an introverted and taciturn nature, from an early age she preferred to express her feelings and sensations through art, painting and drawing, which she continues to do to this day.
Already a teenager, she dreams of escape from that country that imposes a limited role especially of the female figure and restricts her freedom of expression, but she is not allowed to leave.She thus enrolls in college by taking a course in art studies, never really being able to express her creativity and adapting her production to government dictates through purely figurative painting.
In an attempt to express her ideas and claim the lost feminine identity of Iranian women, she is repeatedly arrested if only for the way she dresses, wears makeup or wears the hijab away from convention.
In 2013 she moved to Turin: the choice fell on this not too chaotic city and close to those mountains that remind her so much of her childhood. She attends the Accademia Albertina with specialization in painting first and then sculpture in order to expand her knowledge of different expressive languages: it is in the Savoy city that she begins to design and create, in addition to canvases, performances and installations that she finds particularly suitable for sharing her political commitment.
He has not returned to Iran for years, where he may risk arrest or disappear as has already happened to so many of his compatriots.
