The Power of Silence

THE POWER OF SILENCE

‘The Power of Silence’ is a powerful photographic expression representing the duality of identity. The image is divided into two halves, each telling a different story.

On one side, half of the face is frozen in a lifeless existence, where the closed eye symbolises the loss of self and the suffering of the soul. This half represents life lived under oppressive rules, where the individual is reduced to a mere body without a soul.

On the other hand, the other half of the face opens up to hope, with the eye opening up to life and loose hair symbolising freedom and rediscovered identity.

This photograph is a silent cry that explores the complexity of identity and the strength to break the chains of oppression in order to find one's voice and oneself.
